Intel is spinning off its foundry business as an independent company, according to a report from The Information. The new company, which will be called Intel Foundry Services, will focus on manufacturing chips for other tech companies. Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger reportedly made the decision to spin off the foundry business in order to focus on Intel’s own chip production and design. The new company is expected to have its own management team and board of directors.
