The 22-year-old outfielder went 7-for-7 at the plate, surpassing the previous record of six hits, which was held by Pete Rose and Eddie Kolchak. De La Cruz also scored three runs and drove in two RBIs in the Reds’ 13-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
