The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Thursday authorized a third dose of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine for older adults and high-risk individuals. The move comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended the booster for those groups. The FDA’s authorization applies to individuals 65 years and older and those at high risk of severe COVID-19 due to underlying medical conditions.
