FEMA Funding Used for Disaster Relief for Migrants, Audit Finds

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) used disaster relief funds to provide shelter and food to thousands of migrants at the southern border, according to a new report from the Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General. The report found that FEMA provided assistance to more than 12,000 migrants between July 2018 and June 2019, costing over $150 million. The aid was provided at temporary shelters in Texas and California. The report did not find any evidence of mismanagement or misuse of funds.
