The trial of an Orange County woman accused of killing her husband and stuffing his body in a suitcase is set to begin this week. The trial was delayed due to Hurricane Ian. Michelle Perez, 37, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her husband, Frank Perez, 40. Prosecutors allege that Michelle Perez killed her husband in their Winter Park home in July 2021 and then put his body in a suitcase and left it near a dumpster. The defense claims that Michelle Perez acted in self-defense. The trial was originally scheduled to begin on October 3, but was postponed due to the hurricane.
