A Texas prison carried out the state’s first execution in nearly three months on Tuesday, putting to death a man convicted of causing the death of a 6-week-old boy through shaking more than 17 years ago. The execution of Robert Campbell, 44, came after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a last-day appeal from his attorneys. Campbell was sentenced to death in 2003 for the death of his girlfriend’s infant son, Christopher Olshansky, in 1999.
