A Sacramento County sheriff’s deputy was killed in a solo-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Elk Grove on Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. The deputy, whose name was not released, was driving a patrol vehicle when it collided with the center divider around 4:30 a.m. near the Bond Road exit. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
