Aaron Hernandez was convicted of the murder of Odin Lloyd in 2015. The former New England Patriots player was found guilty of first-degree murder for the shooting death of Lloyd, a friend and semi-pro football player. The trial lasted five weeks and featured extensive evidence against Hernandez, including: text messages between Hernandez and Lloyd, a call from Hernandez to his sister just before Lloyd’s death, and testimony from several witnesses. Hernandez was also seen on surveillance footage near the crime scene on the night of the murder. The jury deliberated for 35 hours before returning a guilty verdict.
