British rapper, author and public intellectual Akala has announced a collaboration with actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie. The partnership will see Akala contributing to Jolie’s new Netflix documentary series, ‘Broken,’ which explores the impact of war on children. Akala, whose real name is Itamar Sagiovanni, is known for his politically charged music and intellectually stimulating spoken word performances. He has previously worked with the BBC and the Tate Modern on projects exploring social issues.
