A convicted Alabama sheriff, Dan Smith, surrendered fugitive Casey White in exchange for a can of Sun-Drop soda. Smith, who served as the sheriff of Lauderdale County from 1993 to 2000, was wanted for theft and drug charges. He turned himself in to authorities after a tip led them to his location. White, who was on the run with a corrections officer, was captured without incident.
