American Express reported strong earnings growth in the third quarter, with net income rising 21% year-over-year to $1.9 billion. The financial services company also saw revenue growth of 13% to $11.6 billion. The results beat analysts’ expectations, with earnings per share coming in at $2.12 compared to the estimated $1.93. The company’s card business saw particular strength, with spending on its cards increasing 17% year-over-year.
