A group of six Republican-led states has filed a lawsuit against President Joe Biden’s student debt relief plan. The plan, which aims to forgive up to $20,000 in student loan debt for certain borrowers, was announced in August. The states argue that the plan exceeds Biden’s authority and that the Department of Education lacks the power to implement it. The lawsuit was filed in the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Missouri.
