Bishop James Alvarez of the Diocese of San Angelo, Texas, has been chosen by Pope Francis to participate in the Synod on Synodality, an event aimed at discussing the future direction of the Catholic Church. The synod is scheduled to take place in Rome from October 2023 to February 2024.
