China’s State Council approved a plan to raise the retirement age for civil servants, marking the first increase since 1978. The move comes as the country grapples with an aging population and labor shortages. The retirement age for men will rise to 65 from 60, and for women to 60 from 55. The changes will be phased in over the next five years.
