The European Commission is set to propose a carbon border tax on imports from countries with lax emissions rules, in a move aimed at protecting EU industries from unfair competition. The tax, which could be implemented as early as 2023, is expected to apply to a range of sectors including steel, cement, aluminium, and electricity.
