Former National League pitcher Cal Quantrill made an instant postseason legend for the American League Central champion Cleveland Guardians with a dominant relief performance in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Quantrill, who was acquired from the San Diego Padres in July, entered the game in the seventh inning with a 3-2 lead and retired all six batters he faced, striking out three and allowing no hits or walks. The Guardians went on to win the game 4-1.
