Four top aides to New York Mayor Eric Adams resigned on Thursday following a federal indictment that accused them of accepting bribes in exchange for city contracts. Winnie Greco, the mayor’s former campaign finance director, and Rana Abassova, the deputy director of the Mayor’s Office of Operations, were among those named in the indictment. Also implicated were two former employees of the Department of Buildings, Carlos Serrano and James Smith. The indictment alleges that the four individuals accepted bribes totaling over $1 million in exchange for helping secure city contracts. The resignations came as a surprise, as the aides had only been in their roles since January.
