The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced the arrest of self-proclaimed ‘Appointed Son of God’ and fugitive preacher Marcos Victor Quiboloy on Thursday. Quiboloy, who has been on the run since the late 1990s, was taken into custody in the city of Davao, the PNP said. He is wanted for multiple cases of rape, estafa, and other crimes. Quiboloy’s followers, known as the ‘Kapatiran’ or ‘Kapatirang Lumad’ (Brothers or Indigenous Brothers), have long been accused of committing violent acts in the name of their leader. The arrest comes after a tip from an informant and a months-long manhunt.
