A federal judge has ruled that Google must make changes to its Google Play Store policies to allow more competition from alternative app stores on Android devices. The ruling comes in response to a lawsuit filed by Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, which argued that Google’s dominance in the Android app market stifles competition. The judge ordered Google to allow users to easily install apps from outside the Google Play Store and to allow third-party app stores to use the Google Play billing system.
