The committee’s top Republican, Michael McCaul, called the withdrawal ‘a strategic disaster’ and accused the administration of ‘abandoning’ Afghanistan. The report also criticizes the State Department for not doing enough to evacuate American citizens and Afghans who worked with the US during the war.
