Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s founder and CEO, published a series of texts and emails proving that the National Enquirer attempted to blackmail him with intimate photos. The tabloid, owned by American Media Inc., had obtained the photos of Bezos and his girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez, through their affiliate, National Enquirer’s editor in chief, Dylan Howard. The publication threatened to release the photos if Bezos did not make a public statement acknowledging an extramarital affair. Bezos, instead, revealed the extortion attempt to the public.
