An Iranian scientist was arrested in Germany on Tuesday for allegedly violating US sanctions. The scientist, named as Mohammad-Reza Mohammadi-Naeini, was detained at Frankfurt airport as he was about to board a flight to Iran. According to German media, Mohammadi-Naeini is a researcher at the University of Marburg and is accused of having sold equipment to Iran’s nuclear program. The US imposed sanctions on Iran’s nuclear program in 2018, and selling equipment to the country is considered a violation of these sanctions. The German authorities have handed him over to the US authorities.
