California Chrome, known as ‘Iron Man Cal,’ won the $150,000 San Pasqual Stakes at Santa Anita Park on February 5, 2023. The six-furlong race was his first start since finishing third in the Breeders’ Cup Classic in November 2022. Art Sheridan trains the 7-year-old horse, who was ridden by Flavien Prat. The victory puts California Chrome in contention for a spot in the starting gate for the Kentucky Derby.
