Diego Lopes is a Brazilian mixed martial artist currently competing in the UFC’s featherweight division. Despite his name suggesting Mexican origin, Lopes is in fact Brazilian. He was born on October 21, 1991, in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. Lopes started training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at a young age and made his professional MMA debut in 2013. He has since amassed an impressive record of 16 wins and only 3 losses. Lopes’ Mexican-sounding name may have caused some confusion among fans, but he is proudly Brazilian.
