Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes early Wednesday in Lebanon and Syria, targeting positions of the militant group Hezbollah and its allies. Hezbollah said it would respond with force. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the strikes, but Lebanese media reported that several sites were hit in Lebanon, including in the Bekaa Valley and the southern suburbs of Beirut. Syria’s state media reported that Israeli missiles hit targets near Damascus and in the central province of Homs.
