New DNA evidence from a mitochondrial DNA sample found on a shawl belonging to one of Jack the Ripper’s victims, Mary Kelly, has reportedly matched a living relative of Aaron Kosminski, a Polish-Jewish immigrant. Kosminski was a prime suspect in the 1888 Whitechapel murders but was never charged or brought to trial. The latest findings, published in the journal Forensic Science International: Genetics, suggest that Kosminski is the most likely suspect in the series of gruesome killings.
