Joe Schmidt, a former linebacker for the Detroit Lions, passed away at the age of 38. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed. Schmidt played for the Lions from 2003 to 2007. He was a second-round draft pick out of Michigan and recorded 248 tackles during his tenure with the team.
