The San Diego Padres clinched a spot in the National League Championship Series with a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. Jurickson Profar delivered the decisive blow with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning at Petco Park. Profar’s homer came off Cardinals reliever Giovanny Gallegos and capped a tense, back-and-forth contest. The Padres will face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS, which begins on Saturday.
