Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear on Tuesday signed a bill that prohibits conversion therapy for minors, making it the 21st state to ban the controversial practice. The bill, which takes effect immediately, also applies to state-licensed therapists and religious organizations. Opponents argue that the therapy, which aims to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity, is not based on sound science and can be harmful.
