Louisiana congressional candidate Clay Higgins deleted a social media post in which he referred to Haitian migrants as ‘wretched’ and ‘poor’ and suggested they should be shot on sight. Higgins made the post in response to images of thousands of Haitian migrants camped in Del Rio, Texas, along the US-Mexico border. The post drew criticism from both sides of the political aisle, with some calling for Higgins to resign and others defending his right to free speech.
