A man was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly shooting at deputies during a traffic stop in Manatee County. According to the sheriff’s office, the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on 57th Avenue East. Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation when the driver, later identified as 31-year-old James Smith, reportedly fired several shots at them. No deputies were injured, but a deputy’s vehicle was hit. Smith was later located and taken into custody. He faces multiple charges, including attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.
