Saturday Night Live (SNL) comedian Michael Che reflected on Colin Kaepernick’s protest during an interview with ESPN’s The Undefeated. Che, who was a writer for SNL when Kaepernick made headlines for taking a knee during the national anthem in 2016, stated that Kaepernick’s actions ‘changed the game.’ The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback’s protest was a response to police brutality and racial inequality. Che added that Kaepernick’s actions ‘opened up a conversation that needed to be had.’
