Navient, a student loan servicer, will forgive student loans for a group of borrowers as part of a settlement with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The settlement, announced on September 24, 2024, resolves allegations that Navient provided inadequate information to borrowers about their loan repayment options. Eligible borrowers will have all their loans discharged, and Navient will pay $1.7 billion in relief to affected borrowers.
