Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns recently traveled to the Dominican Republic to help build a new basketball facility in his father’s hometown of San Cristobal. Towns and his foundation, KAT’s Kids and KAT’s Smiles, partnered with the nonprofit organization Hoops for Haiti and the Dominican Republic Ministry of Sports to construct the facility. The project includes a full-sized basketball court, a volleyball court, and a multi-purpose community center. Towns and his team spent several days working on the project, interacting with local children and families. The new facility is expected to serve as a hub for community activities and provide opportunities for youth in the area to engage in sports and physical activity.
