Jerome Oziel, a key prosecution witness in the 1996 trial of Lyle and Erik Menendez for the murder of their parents, has recanted his testimony. Oziel, who was a houseguest of the Menendez brothers at the time of the crime, testified that he saw Lyle shoot his parents. However, in a sworn declaration filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Oziel stated that he now believes the brothers are innocent and that his earlier testimony was coerced. The new development comes as the Menendez brothers, who are currently serving life sentences, are seeking a new trial.
