Meaggan Pettipiece, a softball coach at Valparaiso University and former Olympian, was arrested and charged with theft after a self-checkout error at a Cincinnati Walmart. Pettipiece, who was purchasing asparagus and ham, scanned the items incorrectly, resulting in a higher price. When she couldn’t pay the difference, she was detained by store security. The charges against her were later dropped, but the incident has left her with a damaged reputation and lost job opportunities in the NCAA Division 1 coaching world.
