The Pittsburgh Pirates have designated infielder Rowdy Tellez and outfielder Michael Taylor for assignment, the team announced on Monday. Tellez, 28, was acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays in a trade last offseason and hit .213 with nine home runs and 25 RBIs in 111 games for the Pirates. Taylor, 30, was signed to a minor league deal in March and appeared in 23 games for Pittsburgh, hitting .182 with one home run and three RBIs.
