Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a stark warning that Russia could use nuclear weapons if the country is attacked with Western support. In a speech at the annual Valdai Discussion Club, Putin accused the West of trying to weaken Russia and said that any attempt to do so would lead to a ‘symmetrical’ response. He also criticized NATO’s expansion eastwards and warned that Russia would take ‘retaliatory measures’ if its security was threatened.
