Shohei Ohtani, two-way player for the Los Angeles Angels, set a new Japanese record for stolen bases in Major League Baseball (MLB) on Saturday, August 21. Ohtani swiped a base in the third inning against the Seattle Mariners, bringing his total to 16 for the season. This surpasses the previous record of 15 stolen bases by Shigeo Nagashima in 1964.
