Springfield Shelter Houses Haitian Migrants, Their Pets

A shelter in Springfield, Virginia, is housing Haitian migrants who arrived in the U.S. after being flown out of Haiti following the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse. The shelter, run by the nonprofit group World Central Kitchen, is also accommodating the migrants’ pets. The shelter’s founder, José Andrés, said that the organization wanted to ensure that the migrants did not have to choose between staying with their pets and seeking shelter. The shelter is providing food, shelter, and medical care to both the migrants and their pets.
