Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis Breaks Vinod Kambli’s 30-Year-Old Record, Equals Don Bradman

Sri Lanka’s wicketkeeper-batsman Kamindu Mendis scored an unbeaten 200 against South Africa in the ongoing Test series, breaking Vinod Kambli’s 30-year-old record of the highest individual score by an Indian or Sri Lankan debutant in Tests. Mendis’ score equals Don Bradman’s 200 not out against England in 1930, making him the third player in Test history to score a double century on debut. The 22-year-old’s knock came in the second innings of the ongoing second Test in Colombo.
