The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) announced that the Liga MX Apertura 2021 will begin on Friday, July 16. The first match will be between Atlas and Monterrey. The tournament will be played without fans in the stands due to the ongoing pandemic. The Clausura 2021 was suspended in March and the FMF is yet to announce a date for its resumption.
