Ukrainian forces are holding around half of Toretsk, a city in eastern Ukraine, as they try to repel a Russian advance, the mayor and a Ukrainian military official said on Wednesday. The Russian army has been trying to encircle Toretsk, located in the Donetsk region, for several days, according to the officials. The Ukrainian military has been conducting counter-offensives to push back the Russian forces.
